The specialist rooms journey, step 6 of 6

Back to the rooms after surgery

The surgeon writes the operation report on the hospital record. The theatre record comes back to the rooms for the in-hospital claim, and the review is booked in the rooms diary.

An operation report in HealthOS for a left trapeziectomy, with the operative findings, procedure description and closure written in.
Who takes part

The people at this step

The surgeon

Writes or dictates the operation report on the hospital record, with the findings and the follow-up plan.

The front desk

Matches the patient when the theatre record arrives, and books the post-operative review.

The GP

Gets a letter from the review visit in the rooms.

What happens

Step by step

  1. The operation report

Diagnosis, procedures, findings, closure and the post-operative plan, filed to the patient's hospital record.

  2. The theatre record comes back

Each locked theatre record for the practice's own patients arrives in the rooms' operations inbox, with the procedures and their codes.

  3. The in-hospital medical claim

Lodged to Medicare and the fund through Eclipse, under the fund arrangement it falls under, each procedure at the practice's own fee.

  4. The post-operative review

Booked in the rooms diary against the referral, with the subsequent attendance item suggested.

  5. A letter to the GP

Drafted from the review visit and sent the same way as every other letter from the rooms.

Where it ends

Care goes back to the GP, with the review letter.
